Attention:
If you find a stray animal and have the time and resources to care for them please do so. If not, please contact a shelter, humane society, or animal officer to notify them of the stray and where it can be found. If you do pick up the stray please look for any identification such as tags or information on the collar. If it has a rabies tag with a veterinary clinic name, please call the clinic. They may be able to look-up the tag number to try to find the owner. If there is no tag or collar look around/knock on neighbors doors; it is possible the owner could be nearby and not realize their pet got out. If no owner can be located and it has no identification take it to a shelter or veterinary clinic capable of scanning the animal for a microchip. If no microchip is found, please call your local shelter, humane society, and veterinary clinics to check for missing pets that have been recorded with these agencies. Or online for local missing pets ex: Facebook Pages If the animal is injured, do you have the resources available to take care of the animal? If not, contact your local animal control officer or shelter/humane society to report the injured animal and see if they are able to take care of the animal. Here at Marley Vet Clinic we are able to look-up a rabies tag from our facility and scan for a microchip. If there is no tag and no microchip we are not able to keep the stray at our facility. You must decide to house the stray until the owner is found, or take it to a shelter or humane society. However, if the animal is in our system, we are able to house the animal here until the owner is able to pick them up. Even though we would love to help out every stray animal there sometimes isn’t the kennel space or enough time in the day to get to every stray animal that walks through the door. |
